An extremely rare tetrassarion of Caracalla from Topirus

THRACE. Topirus. Caracalla, 198-217. Tetrassarion (Bronze, 29 mm, 15.59 g, 7 h). [AYT K M] AYP ANTΩN[INOC] Laureate head of Caracalla to right; on neck, pseudo-countermark: monogram of AMP within round incuse. Rev. OYΛΠIAC TOΠIPOY Tetrastyle temple with triangular-shaped roof; to left and right, statues of horsemen. Varbanov 2682. For 'countermark', Howgego 604. Extremely rare. Bumps on the edge and with a flan crack, otherwise, good fine.

From a European collection, formed before 2005.

The pseudo-countermark on the obverse was engraved into the original die.
